For research purposes LLMs can be of help, as they are capable of finding and extracting information from documents very fast – depending on the quality of your questions. Regarding being "creative" they fail. Which is not surprising, as nobody knows how to program creativity. However they can support with analyzing text – see my first sentence.

AI can at best give you something at the mean average of all writing. A good book must be so much more than that.
